A TV anime adaptation of Toya’s light novel “The Reincarnated Great Saint Hides Her Sainthood” (published by Earth Star Entertainment) has been announced. Wakayama Shion, Tokudome Shinosuke, Umehara Yuichiro, and Shimazaki Nobunaga will star in the series.
Wakayama will play the role of Fear, a great saint with extraordinary abilities in her previous life. Tokudome will play Fear’s servant, the black dragon Xaviria, Umehara will play Savith Nave, the leader of the Black Dragon Knights, and Shimazaki will play Cyril Sutherland, the leader of the First Knights.
The original work, which is currently being serialized on the novel submission site “Let’s Become a Novelist,” is a popular series that has sold over 3.4 million copies and was ranked second for two consecutive years in the paperback/novels category of “This Light Novel is Amazing! 2024/2025” (published by Takarajimasha). One day, Fear Rude, a girl who aspires to be a knight despite being told she has no talent for the sword, remembers her past life as a “Great Saint” who was killed by the Demon King’s right hand 300 years ago. Because the Demon King’s right hand threatened to kill her if she was reborn as a Saint, Fear decided to live as a knight while hiding her powers, but she cannot abandon people in trouble and frequently uses her powers. The latest volume 11 will be released on March 14th.
Congratulatory illustrations from the original illustrator chibi, Aobane Mahito, who is in charge of the main story’s comic adaptation, and Umino, who is in charge of the comic adaptation of the spin-off “The Reincarnated Great Saint Hides Her Sainthood ZERO”, have also been released.
At “AnimeJapan2025” to be held at Tokyo Big Sight, a TV anime adaptation commemorative event will be held at the Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures booth from 1:00 pm on March 22nd. Wakayama, Tokudome, and Umehara will be on stage.
The full comments from the cast and original creators are as follows.
[Shion Wakayama (role of Fear Rude)]
In the film, Fear tends to attract attention at first because of her uniqueness, but then everyone is drawn to her inner self and I think they start to become interested in her. I will do my best to portray the charming, lovely and cute Fear as if she were life-sized!
[Tokudome Shinosuke (role of Xaviria)]
Congratulations on the decision to make an anime version of “The Reincarnated Saint Hides Her Sainthood”! My name is Tokudome Shinosuke, and I will be playing Xaviria. Xaviria is usually a very high-ranking being, but she shows a different side of herself only when she is in contact with Fear. I hope you will check out this contrast as well! The work is wonderful, so I am looking forward to it!
[Umehara Yuichiro (voice of Savith Nerve)]
My name is Umehara Yuichiro, and I will be playing Savith Nerve. The main character, Fiera, is charming because of her natural innocence, and I am looking forward to seeing how her ever-changing emotions will be portrayed in the anime. I will do my best to play Savith, one of the people surrounding Fiera. The dubbing has yet to begin, so I am looking forward to seeing how I will be able to interact with the rest of the cast. Please look forward to the TV anime and the original work.
[Shimazaki Nobunaga (voice of Cyril Sutherland)]
I am Shimazaki Nobunaga, and I will be voicing Cyril Sutherland. Fear, the “reincarnated great saint,” is in many ways like her, and it is refreshing and wonderful to see her forging ahead while naturally involving those around her. Cyril is also one of the people who gets caught up in Fear, but I hope that she will enjoy being involved in the story, while staying positive and sometimes even leading Fear around in circles. Thank you very much for your support.
[Toya (original work)] “The Great Saint” is going to be made into an anime! This is all thanks to the readers who have continued to read this work. It is also thanks to the support of chibi, Aobe, Umino, and the publishers. Thank you very much. I am looking forward to the day when I can see Fear moving and talking. I feel great to be able to share this wonderful news with you all. I hope you will continue to support us!!!
[chibi (original illustration)] I would like to congratulate you from the bottom of my heart on the anime adaptation of “The Great Saint.” Congratulations to Toya-sensei! I’m really happy that the day has come when Fear and the others’ story will move forward. I’ve always thought that this bright and fun series would be well suited to the medium of animation, so somewhere in my heart I was looking forward to this day coming. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to be involved in such a wonderful series, however small my contribution may be. I’m really looking forward to it airing!

Animation! Congratulations to Toya-sensei! Drawing the manga is so much fun, and I’m so happy that such a wonderful story can be seen in the form of an anime! Ever since I heard that it was going to be made into an anime, I couldn’t stop imagining things while drawing, thinking, “I wonder if they’ll move and talk like this…” And more than anything, I was so grateful to be involved in this wonderful work. I’m looking forward to seeing the Fears in action, and I’ll work even harder on the comic adaptation!

“Daiseijo” is being made into an anime! Congratulations!! I think this is a long-awaited announcement for all the fans. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the world of “Daiseijo” will be portrayed, not only because of the actions of the Fears who move and have voices, but also because I think there will be expressions that are unique to anime. As a fan, I’m excited to be able to see the new world of “Daiseijo” in the form of an anime, and I’m looking forward to the broadcast.
