The premiere date for Cat’s♡Eye—note that the “・” is officially rendered as a heart symbol—has been set for September 26th, with the series streaming exclusively on Disney+’s “Star” channel. Alongside the announcement, the official trailer and key visual have also been released. It has further been revealed that Ado will perform the new opening theme song.
Based on the popular manga by Hojo Tsukasa, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 1981 to 1984, the story follows the three beautiful Kisugi sisters—Hitomi (voiced by Mikako Komatsu), Rui (Ami Koshimizu), and Ai(Yumiri Hanamori). By day, they run the café Cat’s Eye; by night, they become phantom thieves, targeting priceless works of art. The original TV anime, which aired from 1983 to 1985, was a major hit, and in recent years the sisters have also made appearances in the City Hunter film series, another of Hojo’s iconic works.
This upcoming anime is a brand-new reimagining with a completely fresh cast and creative team. The first half of the series (episodes 1–6) will stream weekly from September 26th to October 31st, while the second half (episodes 7–12) will stream weekly from December 26th to January 30th, 2026.
The opening theme song, “MAGIC” by Ado, is written, composed, and arranged by Vocaloid producer Tsumiki, known for hits like Phony and Tokyo Shandy Rendezvous. It was previously announced that Ado will also perform a cover of the classic 1983 ending theme, “CAT’S EYE.”
The newly released trailer teases Hitomi’s inner conflict over her feelings for detective Toshio Utsumi (voiced by Takuya Sato), who continues his pursuit of the elusive Cat’s Eye. It also shows the sisters reaffirming their determination to carry out their secret missions. New characters include Masato Kamiya, a freelance writer making his first appearance in the anime, and Mitsuko Asatani, Toshio’s colleague who suspects that there may be an informant within the police.
The key visual features Hitomi, Rui, and Ai sprinting through the city at night, with Toshio in hot pursuit—a striking image that captures the essence of Cat’s Eye.

In the latest trailer, it was revealed that Katsuyuki Konishi and Yoko Hikasa will join the cast as Masato Kamiya and Mitsuko Asatani, respectively. Kamiya is said to have inspired the creation of Ryo Saeba, the legendary protagonist of City Hunter, while Asatani is portrayed as an intelligent and cool detective relentlessly pursuing the Cat’s Eye sisters.

Comments
Ado (Opening Theme Artist)
“I recently covered CAT’S EYE for the ending theme of the anime Cat’s Eye, and now I’ve been given the opportunity to perform the opening theme as well. I’m truly honored. MAGIC was written by Tsumiki, and it’s a fresh and exciting retro-pop track that breaks new ground for me. The anime will stream on Disney+. Let’s enjoy it together!”
Katsuyuki Konishi (Masato Kamiya)
“Hello everyone, I’m Konishi, and I’ll be voicing Masato Kamiya. It feels like a dream come true to appear in Cat’s Eye, a show I watched as a child. Back then, I even used to hold a tape recorder up to the TV to record the opening and ending songs. I’m already looking forward to seeing what this new version of Cat’s Eye will be like. Thank you very much!”
Yoko Hikasa (Mitsuko Asatani)
“Cat’s Eye is a series I watched when I was a child, and I never imagined I would get to be part of it! Back then, I saw it as a sexy, mature anime, but reinterpreted today, it’s also a romantic comedy with heartwarming and lovable human relationships. It’s a story that both adults and children can enjoy. Mitsuko is a clever detective who corners Cat’s Eye, but she also has a very human, charming side. I hope you’ll look forward to seeing both sides of her character!”
Tsukasa Hojo (Original Author)
“We are able to bring Cat’s Eye back as an anime thanks to the support of fans who have stood by it for so many years, and I’m truly grateful. It was my very first serialized work, and at the time I was still learning, so there are parts that feel a little rough (laughs). This new anime is closer to the original manga, and also features Kamiya—also known as ‘Nezumi’—who never appeared in the earlier anime. He’s the character who later became the prototype for Ryo Saeba of City Hunter. I hope City Hunter fans will enjoy seeing him as Ryo’s origin, and that this new story of the three sisters will reach audiences who are unfamiliar with Cat’s Eye. Please look forward to it.”
