Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc IMAX Launch & ABEMA Special

The IMAX version of the animated film “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” will be released simultaneously with the standard version in 61 theaters nationwide on September 19th. It has also been announced that a special release commemorative program and a “Chainsaw Man Compilation” will be streamed on ABEMA on September 5th.

The original work, currently serialized by Tatsuki Fujimoto on Shueisha’s manga app “Shonen Jump+,” is a popular action-packed manga series with a total circulation of over 30 million copies. The story follows Denji (voiced by Kikunosuke Toya), a young devil hunter who spends his days trying to repay his father’s debts. In his final moments, he makes a pact with Pochita (voiced by Shiori Izawa), the “Chainsaw Devil,” and fights as Chainsaw Man, a deformed being possessed by a demon’s heart. The anime will air on TV in 2022. The “Reze Arc” is a story that continues from the final episode of the TV anime, and depicts Denji being manipulated by a girl named Reze whom he meets by chance, as he rushes towards an unpredictable fate.

In conjunction with the announcement of the IMAX screening, an IMAX poster visual has also been released, depicting Chainsaw Man fighting the shark demon Beam (Natsuki Hanae).

The special release commemorative program, “Just Before Release! The Charms of the Movie ‘Chainsaw Man: Reze’ Explode! A Flashy Special!” will be broadcast on ABEMA starting at 8:00 PM on September 5th. Hosted by Kendo Kobayashi, the program will feature celebrities who are self-proclaimed Chainsaw Man fans, including Toya, Crystal Noda of Magical Lovely, Shogo of Tokyo Hoteison, freelance announcer Neki Matsuzawa, and Hi-Ann Murakawa of the idol group CANDY TUNE, to discuss the appeal of the series. The program will also feature the latest information on the Reze arc, a sneak peek into the studio of MAPPA, the animation production company, and a commentary video from Kenshi Yonezu, who is in charge of the main and ending themes.

The “Chainsaw Man Compilation” will feature a re-edited version of all 12 episodes of the TV series, plus a new animated feature, “Chainsaw Biyori,” based on the final chapter of the original manga. This will be available on ABEMA starting at 9:00 PM on September 5th after the special program ends. It will then be available on other streaming platforms starting September 12th. A key visual featuring famous scenes from the series has also been released.

In addition, the Shibuya area of ​​Tokyo will host a “Chainsaw Summer! The Best!! in SHIBUYA” event, which will begin on September 12th. Pop-up shops will be held at nine stores, and various other initiatives will be implemented from time to time, including apparel collaborations, events, and synchronized broadcasts on five screens at Shibuya Scramble Crossing. In collaboration with ZONe ENERGY’s sampling team, ZONe BOOSTER, “Chainsaw Man” headpieces will be distributed, and Pochita-designed candy will also be distributed at multiple locations.
