The official sequel to the popular dodgeball manga from the 1990s, “Honoo no Tokyuuji Dodge Danpei”, “Honoo no Tokyuuji Dodge Danko”, has been decided to be made into a TV anime in 2026. In addition, the “soul inheritance visual” and a special trailer were released.
The original manga “Honoo no Tokyuuji Dodge Danko” is a web manga serialized in “Weekly CoroCoro Comic” since 2022 by manga artist Koshita Tetsuhiro, who sparked the dodgeball boom with “Honoo no Tokyuuji Dodge Danpei” and the mini 4WD boom with “Bakusou Kyodai Let’s & Go!!”. It has been a hot topic mainly on SNS since its release, and the first episode has exceeded 700,000 views. It is attracting attention as one of the web mangas with momentum, as it is often ranked in X trends on the update date. The comics are currently on sale up to volume 5.

The story begins when Ichigeki Danko, the daughter of Ichigeki Danpei, the protagonist of “Dodge Danpei: The Blazing Ball Boy”, unleashes the passionate soul she inherited from her father into the Reiwa era, weaving a new tale of the strongest fighting ball game in history, “Tokyu”.

A New Generation of Dodgeball Fire: Daughter Carries on Danpei’s Legacy
The announcement of Dodge Danshi as the official sequel to the beloved ’90s sports anime Dodge Danpei is not just a nostalgic callback but a bold move to reintroduce the spirit of dodgeball shonen anime to a new generation. With the newly released “Soul Inheritance Visual” showing Danpei’s daughter ready to take the stage, this sequel reflects a shift in anime storytelling — honoring legacy characters while empowering the next wave of heroes. If executed well, it could mirror the success of generational sequels like Boruto or Dragon Ball Super, combining legacy appeal with fresh energy.
